Ferndale

Ferndale is five miles off Highway 101 and has two streets of more than 200 incredible Victorian buildings. The entire town is a State Historic Landmark. Strolling Main Street is a wonderful way to spend a sunny day.

• Golden Gait Mercantile, a step back to an 1850s shopping experience.
Just outside of town, enjoy:
• Avenue of the Giants, the home of 2,0000-year-old coastal redwoods in the Eel River Valley. A 30-mile scenic drive within Humboldt State Park is a must-see.
• Rockefeller Forest in the Big Trees area, a 5-mile drive in Mattole-Honeydew Road. Also the home of the new champion sequoia, measuring 363-inches in diameter.
