Suisun City residents, get your shovels out and prepare to get your hands dirty. The city wants to give you some dough to make your home shine with curb appeal.
Suisun City’s Neighborhood Reinvestment Program assists residents with repairs and general sprucing up in order to keep the city looking its best. Qualifying homeowners can receive up to $2,500 for a variety of curb appeal projects like landscaping, exterior paint or front yard fence replacement. “This program has succeeded beyond expectations of staff since implementation in June 2007,” says Alysa Majer, management analyst for the Public Works Department. “It is exciting for both staff and the residents as we make small steps in transforming and beautifying the neighborhoods throughout the city.”
As of February, 2008 there is approximately $56,000 left in the fund. Majer stresses that funds are granted on a first come, first serve basis. Homeowners need to apply for each project and, based on income levels, the city will pay between 50 and 80 percent of the cost for each project. According to Majer an approximate total of $73,000 has been invested into “beautifying and increasing home value in Suisun City neighborhoods.”
